A day without coffee is like… Just kidding, I have no idea. I’m generally miserable as hell until I’ve had my morning coffee, which I normally have when I get to work and it got me thinking about making another coffee face scrub to use in the morning before I leave the house.
I used coconut oil in the the last coffee face scrub I made but this time round I swapped the coconut oil for honey and added the juice and zest of half an orange.
Not only does the smell of coffee trigger feelings of wakefulness but it acts as a great exfoliator which helps scrub away dead skin cells revealing new and healthy skin, allowing your topical skincare products to be absorbed quicker. I’ve also read that coffee helps improve circulation.
Tip: The batch I’ve made won’t last more than 3 days and I won’t exfoliate my face more than twice in one week so I’ll use the leftovers as a body scrub to help improve circulation.
Replacing the coconut oil with honey is a real complexion boost as honey is very soothing on the skin and full of antioxidants which will help slow down the ageing process. I honestly wouldn’t have thought of adding the juice and zest of an orange but I’m so glad I did a bit of research around why vitamin c is good for your skin and how other beauty bloggers have incorporated oranges in their homemade beauty products. A lot of high street serums out there contain vitamin C because it helps with the formation of collagen and what 30+ woman doesn’t want more collagen in her skin.
