It’s not every day I get to try a 24 karat gold face mask. Gold screams opulence and now I can cover my face in it but why would I do that?
Besides it being the ultimate luxurious treatment, gold has many properties which are great for the skin. For a start it’s meant to help stimulate collagen production in the skin. This should result in a reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Gold also lightens the skin’s complexion. I can vouch for that after only just one use but that is probably because I still have gold residue all over my face. It’s looks like I’m wearing an all over highlighter and the light just keeps reflecting off of my skin. Win! This face mask has definitely taken my skincare regime to the next level so let’s take a look at how it works.
Élévatione 24 karat gold face mask application
I started off by applying a uniform layer of product on to my skin. In hindsight it was a bit too thick but it was only when I moved on to the next step that I realised. In terms of value for money, I would definitely recommend applying a thin layer of product.
Once applied the instructions say to wait around 20 seconds. I ‘waited’ slightly longer as I didn’t have any tissue paper to hand. Cue frantic searching. Tissue paper and magnet or magic device in hand, I moved on to the next step. Wrap the magnet in the tissue paper and voila, you’re good to go.
This is actually the exciting part, where the ‘magic’ happens. I was a bit skeptical at first. I didn’t see anything happening but that may have been down to the amount of product I had on my face. After trying again, I started to feel essentially what the pull feels like between 2 magnets but on my face! A little strange at first but then the mask started lifting from my face leaving the 24 karat gold residue behind on my skin.
The packaging did say you could wash your face with their Foamy Milky Exfoliator. I opted not to wash the residual product off. If I’m using gold on my face, I’m keeping it on overnight so I just smoothed in the excess because I’m totally worth it.
So the big question… Is this 24 karat gold face mask worth the hype?
It’s too early for me to say if I see any difference as I have only used the product once. I’ll definitely be using this mask as more of a treat around once a month in conjunction with other face masks like this Caudalie detox mask. Pop back over to my blog in a few months, if the results are worth writing about they’ll be on here.
I should mention this was actually a beauty purchase made by my husband. I can only assume he was coerced in to the shop by a bigger wheeler dealer than himself (unlikely) or by someone far better looking than me. Either way, after using this I should be ageing backwards like Benjamin Button so does it really matter. Eat your heart out Cleopatra!
Have you ever used a Gold face mask before? What did you think?
